BOULDER, Colo. — The High Performance Transportation Enterprise Board approved the new toll rate schedule and an increase to the civil penalty for toll evasion for the I-25 Express Lanes on Tuesday.
At the meeting, the new toll rates for I-25 and U.S. 36 Express Lanes were presented and open for public comment, HPTE representative Megan Castle said.
The HPTE Board approved the following, to take effect on March 16:
- New toll rates for the existing I-25 Express Lanes
- New civil penalty to serve as a stronger deterrent against toll evasion, the penalty will increase from $46 to $250
“The Express Lanes toll rates … must be able to provide a reliable, safe service and ensure reliable travel times for carpools, solo drivers and the RTD buses that use them,” HPTE Board Member Don Marostica said in part.
Before the U.S. 36 Express Lanes open midsummer, the board would like to conduct additional public outreach about the decision of toll rates.
