COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Colorado Springs police officers learned there was a male and female wanted on felony warrants from several jurisdictions staying at the Hotel Elegante in Colorado Springs.

On Saturday, the suspects barricaded themselves in the third floor hotel room and activated the fire suppression system, the Colorado Springs Police Department said.

Water was pouring out of the ceiling and flooded that room and several other connected rooms.

Colorado Springs Fire Department responded and had concerns for police officers’ safety because they were wadding in water. As a result, parts of the hotel’s electrical system was deactivated, the statement said.

The male suspect left the room complaining of hypothermia.  After that, the CSFD turned of the sprinkler system and removed the second suspect and a German Shepard from the hotel room.

The water depth caused an estimated $100,000 of property damage, according to the fire department.

The statement additionally said, that both suspects were charged with their original warrants, plus charges related to tampering with fire suppression devices and endangering hotel guests.

No one was reported injured.
