Two suspects captured in auto-theft incident in Denver

DENVER — Two suspects were taken into custody after a  short pursuit on Thursday afternoon in Denver, the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office said.

At about 11:50 a.m., the Colorado Metropolitan Auto Theft Task Force was looking for a suspect wanted on a felony warrant and in possession of a stolen vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.

This search began in the 7500 block of East Harvard Avenue in Arapahoe County until the suspect fled the area in the stolen vehicle. The driver struck two unmarked law enforcement vehicles and several parked cars, the sheriff’s office said.

A short pursuit was called off, but an aviation official with C-MATT continued to track the vehicle.

Once the stolen car became disabled at Ninth Street and Colorado Boulevard in Denver about 12:05 p.m., officers moved in. The suspect got out of the car and ran but was apprehended shortly after, the sheriff’s office said.

The male suspect and his female passenger were taken into custody without further incident. Their identities have not been released.
