AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) — Two officers were injured during the chase of a suspect on Saturday. The pursuit ended with the arrest of two men; all while Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman was present on a ride-along. The mayor was not injured.

An officer spotted Jesus Aguirre-Flores, 26, who is wanted for homicide, in a car around Colfax Avenue and Havana Street about 3:40 p.m. The driver of the car, 22-year-old Khadijah Evans failed to stop when officers attempted a traffic stop.

The two took police on a short chase around northwest Aurora and briefly into Denver. An officer forcibly used his vehicle to end the pursuit around 3:50 p.m. in the area of East 14th Avenue and Del Mar Parkway.

Aguirre-Flores is suspected of shooting and killing 35-year-old Lance Michael Gerry at the Radiant Inn on Aug. 17. He was arrested on first-degree murder charges. Evans was arrested for eluding.

Both officers injured were transported to the hospital, treated and released.
