19-year-old arrested for deaths of El Paso County teenagers

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. — A 19-year-old man has been arrested for the deaths of two teenagers, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

Gustavo Marquez has been booked on two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated robbery, two counts of kidnapping and one count of child abuse resulting in death.

Derek Benjamin Greer, 15, and Natalie Partida, 16, were found dead along the shoulder of Old Pueblo Road just south of Hanover Road near Fountain on March 12 as a man was driving by.

The victims were friends and students at Coronado High School.

Court records show Marquez was arrested Feb. 24 by the Fountain Police Department on two felony and misdemeanor charges in a kidnapping, assault and domestic violence case out of Fountain.

He was charged with second-degree kidnapping, second-degree assault with attempted serious bodily injury, third-degree assault and child abuse.

The investigation is ongoing. The sheriff’s office has not said how the teenagers were killed.
