FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Southbound Interstate 25 reopened Thursday morning after animal control officers had to rescue a 100-pound pig that curled up under a semitrailer after falling out.

The incident happened just before 8:30 a.m. on I-25 near Harmony Road. The pig fell out of the trailer bleeding, then curled up underneath it.

Southbound I-25 was shut down as animal control worked to remove the pig.

The pig was tranquilized and safely removed. The interstate reopened about 9:30 a.m.
