Award-winning Meteorologist Travis Michels joined the Pinpoint Weather team in November of 2021. You can catch his forecasts on weekday mornings on Daybreak on 2.
Travis originally is from Delaware and earned his degree in Meteorology at California University of Pennsylvania. He began his career as a Meteorologist at 47 ABC (WMDT) working weekends and filling in when needed. His next step took him to Rock Island, Illinois to be the Morning Meteorologist for CBS 4 (WHBF). Travis then returned to his home market at 47 ABC (WMDT), taking the role of Chief Meteorologist. 8News (WRIC) in Richmond, VA was the next stop, where he was the Meteorologist for the entire weekend. Travis started in Denver, CO (KDVR/KWGN) as the weekend Meteorologist and then moved to mornings on Daybreak.
While in the Midwest Travis saw his fair share of severe weather, cold and snowy winters, and even major flooding along the Mississippi River. His most notable weather on the East Coast includes major hurricanes, various severe storms, multiple tornadoes (including a major outbreak), and some large snow storms.
When he has some free time Travis tends to enjoy the outdoors by spending time hiking, mountain biking, training for triathlons, or reading a good book! He’s excited to explore all of what Colorado has to offer!
