LAKEWOOD, Colo. — One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash early Sunday morning, the Lakewood Police Department said.

The crash involving a Ford F-350 and a Geo Metro sedan happened just before 1 a.m. at Wadsworth Boulevard and West Florida Avenue.

The driver of the truck, 23-year-old Nicholas Kassera, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Kassera was going northbound on Wadsworth at a high rate of speed when he ran a red light and hit the sedan, witnesses told police.

The two vehicles hit front-to-front, and the F-350 spun out.

There were four passengers in the truck, and all were taken to a hospital with various injuries. The driver of the sedan also was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Alcohol and speed are suspected causes of the crash, police said.
