A New Jersey mother is facing jail time for allegedly putting her 6-year-old daughter in a tanning booth.

Patricia Krentcil, 44, was arrested Tuesday for second-degree child endangerment after school officials reported the kindergartener had a severe sunburn.

Krentcil does admit to excessively tanning herself, but insists she would never expose her child to a tanning bed.

She blames the sunburn on outdoor exposure.

Krentcil’s father now has temporary custody of the girl.

New Jersey law prohibits anyone younger than 14 from using tanning booths.
