AURORA – Aurora Police continue to investigate what went wrong in a deadly crash near the Gaylord Rockies Resort Saturday night.
Several pedestrians were hit in a crash around 11:45 p.m. Saturday; one person died and several people were taken to the hospital.
Friends say 23-year-old Levi Noles was the victim killed.
“It’s very surreal,” Josue Gorado said. “It’s very heavy heart that somebody that amazing is just gone.”
Gorado says Noles was attending a party at the resort with friends; he was notified about the crash after midnight.
“He was one of the most honorable people I’ve ever met,” Gorado said.
Gorado says Noles had been with the Navy for four years and took part in a recent Color Guard at Coors Field.
Police say the suspected driver took off after the crash and was later found and taken into custody a few miles from the scene.
Gaylord Rockies Resort declined to comment on the incident.
