DENVER — Two people were killed in a crash involving a wrong-way driver on Interstate 25 on Saturday night, the Colorado Department of Transportation said.

The crash happened in the HOV lanes at 58th Avenue just before 6 p.m.

The Colorado State Patrol said three vehicles were involved, including a black 2006 Jeep, a 2005 Honda CRV and a 2005 gray Chevrolet.

A woman in the Jeep was driving south when the lanes were open for northbound traffic when she crashed into the other vehicles.

The Colorado State Patrol said six people were involved in the crash. Two were killed, three were taken to a hospital with serious injuries and the sixth person was not injured.

Two people in the Chevrolet were killed, a 47-year-old man and a juvenile male.

The 24-year-old female driver of the Jeep was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

She is facing two charges of vehicular homicide and two charges of vehicular assault.

The Colorado State Patrol said alcohol might have played a factor in the crash.

The HOV lanes reopened at 7:40 p.m.
