FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Chris Dierker, the father of the surviving victim of a shooting near the Colorado State University campus on Thursday, confirmed that his daughter, Megan, was involved in the attack.

Dierker, a student at the University of Colorado Boulder, was socializing with the group the night of the shooting.

Tristian Kemp and Savannah McNealy were fatally shot by Michael Zamora before he turned the gun on himself, the Fort Collins Police Department said.

Kemp, McNealy and Dierker reportedly took a ride share back to the apartment complex where the shooting occurred after a night out.

When they arrived, Zamora attacked the three, leaving two dead and Dierker in the hospital.

Zamora died of a gunshot wound to the head. His death was ruled a suicide.

Dierker hails from Highlands Ranch and attended Highlands Ranch High School. Her family shared photos of her with McNealy.

A video statement released by Dierker’s father, Chris, said Megan has undergone three surgeries and the family is hopeful she will fully recover.

He also expressed condolences to the families of the other victims of the shooting, including the gunman.

University of Colorado Boulder Chancellor Philip DiStefano issued a message to the CU community Saturday, saying he had reached out to CSU President, Tony Frank to offer support, and to urge students, faculty or staff affected by the incident to take advantage of campus support services.

He also spoke of Dierker, saying, “Megan is in our thoughts in the aftermath of this terrible tragedy. We hope that she makes a full recovery and is able to rejoin us on the Boulder campus when she is ready. We have reached out to Megan’s family and have campus support services available to those who may be impacted during this time.”
