Judge throws out DJ’s case against Taylor Swift

DENVER — The judge in the Taylor Swift groping trial released the pop star from the lawsuit on Friday night that former KYGO radio host David Mueller filed against her.

He ruled the singer-songwriter did not act improperly in relation to his firing from the station.

Her mother, Andrea Swift, and the “radio guy” Frank Bell remain as defendants in that part of Mueller’s lawsuit.

Taylor Swift’s countersuit for assault and battery remains.

Testimony wrapped up in the trial earlier in the day when lawyers for Mueller finished calling witnesses to the stand.

Swift’s legal team declined calling additional witnesses for Swift’s countersuit. Closing arguments and jury deliberation are set for Monday morning.

Mueller sued Swift and her team for making a false sexual assault accusation against him, costing him his job and future income.

Swift said Mueller did indeed grope her bare bottom at a meet-and-greet before a concert at the Pepsi Center in 2013.

Swift’s former bodyguard, Gregory Dent, took the stand on Friday. He told the jury what he saw during Swift’s alleged sexual assault, providing key testimony as an eyewitness.

Dent said he was standing just outside the frame of the now-famous picture showing Swift and Mueller together at the Pepsi Center on June 2, 2013.

“I thought [Mueller] had been drinking,” Dent said. “I didn’t see [Mueller’s] hand touch her physically. I saw his hand under her skirt.”

Dent said there’s no doubt Mueller grabbed Swift’s bare bottom.

Mueller’s best friend and former KYGO co-host, Ryan “Ryno” Kliesch, told the jury of six women and two men that he never saw Mueller treat women badly.

Kliesch said the accusations surrounding the incident surprised him.

“Eddie (Mueller’s boss) said plan on doing the show by yourself tomorrow,” Kliesch said.

Not long after that call, Mueller was fired.

Mueller’s former girlfriend, Shannon Melcher — seen in the picture — testified that Mueller was shocked and devastated when he was fired.

When Melcher was asked if she saw the alleged groping, she said, “I don’t have eyes in the back of my head.”

Swift’s lawyer asked the judge to release Taylor Swift from the case. He argued Swift did not directly contact Mueller’s bosses before he was fired.
