AURORA, Colo. — A man was arrested after barricading inside a mobile home for several hours and an exchange of gunfire with an officer, the Aurora Police Department said Wednesday.

Police were called to a mobile home park in the 1600 block of North Pagosa Way about 9:10 a.m. on a report of a disturbance involving a gun.

Officers reported hearing a gunshot from inside one of the mobile homes and a man barricaded himself inside, refusing to surrender, police said.

Reverse emergency notifications were sent to a six-block radius to alert residents to stay indoors.

A SWAT team responded, and members of the Denver Police Department, Adams County Sheriff’s Office, Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office and the Greenwood Village Police Department provided assistance in the situation.

About 4:30 p.m., gunfire was exchanged by an Aurora officer and the suspect, police said. Neither one was injured.

The suspect eventually surrendered. He was taken to a hospital for medical evaluation but did not show obvious signs of trauma, police said.

The man’s name and age have not been released because the investigation is ongoing.

The officer who fired has been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
