DENVER — The victims of a home invasion-type attack are suing a local marijuana equipment store.

They claim it knew members of an organized criminal ring were targeting its customers, but did nothing about it.

Dylan Norris and his friend said they feared for their lives when they encountered two gunmen trying to break into Norris’ Denver home last December.

Yulian Rodriguez-Cruz, 25, was arrested and charged with burglary, kidnapping and menacing.

Police and Norris believe the suspect might be part of a crime ring preying on the marijuana store’s customers.

“Either they’re giving away the addresses or they’re negligent with the information and allowing it to be stolen,” Norris said.

Norris said the attack occurred right after he rented equipment from The Trimmer Store.

He was stunned when the store told him three other customers had been robbed that week and that similar crimes had been occurring for at least a year.

Norris said texts and conversations with The Trimmer Store reveal they knew criminals were attacking their customers but didn’t warn anyone or call police.

Attorney Rob Corry filed the lawsuit on the victims’ behalf against The Trimmer Store and an associated company, General Cannabis.

“It happened over and over and over again to other people and the company did nothing. In fact it did worse than nothing, it covered it up and that’s really the problem,” Corry said.

He called the store’s conduct “intentional and outrageous.”

“They can’t really make it right ever, because of what happened. But at least make it so it doesn’t happen again or to anyone else,” Norris said.

The Trimmer Store did not want to comment and General Cannabis did not return phone calls seeking comment.
