COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Without a doubt, Garden of the Gods is one of the most gorgeous parks in our nation. Fortunately, its past and present life is being well documented at a facility that’s Unique 2 Colorado!
The Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center is the first building you pass by when entering the park from the north.
The multi-million dollar project brings an interactive twist to the park and its patrons.
“Really, one of the [center’s] missions was to get kids to engage in nature through technology,” said Dolores Davis, spokesperson for the center. “And then [they can] go out and really enjoy it!”
Most of the exhibits in the new center cater to younger generations, but there’s something for everyone. Including a historic look at the park’s past.
“It’s just amazing,” Davis added.
The park itself is public and is owned and operated by the city of Colorado Springs. Meanwhile, the center serves as a protective big brother of sorts.
On top of educating people about the center, its owners have donated more than $2.7 million to the park over the last 20+ years.
On a personal note, Channel 2’s Kevin Torres, who had never visited the center before, said, “It’s well worth planning a day trip around the center and park. The center is stunning; it’s unlike any similar-sized welcome center I’ve ever been in before”.
