STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. —  A photo featuring a group of men who appeared to be political protestors, but were actually protesting Colorado’s lack of snow, has gone viral on social media.

Some of their signs read “Powder To The People”, “Not My Season” and the most popular: “#MakeColoradoSnowAgain”.

By Monday afternoon, the post had been shared more than 20,000 times and had reached more than 3 million people.

The fellas who created it did so to bring light to the election and to hopefully bring simple smiles to drivers’ faces.

“Some people said they hadn’t smiled in weeks and this was the first time they had a good laugh,” said David Kulberg, one of the four ‘protestors’.

Kulberg and his buddies: Ben Ozzello, James Moon and Brian Sewell only planned on holding the signs for an hour. But given the positive response they received, they ended up hanging out for two and a half hours.

The photos and video were captured by Steamboat Springs journalist Shannon Lukens. Lukens is the News Director at Steamboat Radio.

“If you look at the signs, ‘Powder to the People’, ‘More Snow, Less Hate’. They’re just happy boys having fun. And it’s kind of how everyone feels in Steamboat right now,” she said.

Lukens’ photo continues to go viral. To learn more about how it gained fame online, watch Kevin Torres‘ ‘Unique 2 Colorado‘ story about the election-style protest!
