DENVER — Photographer Steve Hirsch of Lakewood is getting ready because Monday’s Supermoon is not one to miss.

“The full moon of November 14 is not only the closest full moon of 2016, but also the closest full moon to date in the 21st century,” NASA said. “The full moon won’t come this close to Earth again until November 25, 2034.”

2016-supermoon-tomerThis Supermoon will appear 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than a typical full moon.  The moon rises at 4:37 p.m. on Sunday.

The Supermoon reaches its maximum size around 4:23 a.m. Monday. The Supermoon ends at 6:35 a.m. with moonset.

“I’ve already got my spot marked,” Hirsch said.

The key to capturing the Supermoon includes good equipment, scouting a location ahead of time, and clear weather.  As of now, the weather on Sunday looks clear with some cloud cover moving in during the day on Monday.
