DENVER – The latest first snowfall on record is Nov. 21, 1934. Will we beat that record? My belief is that we are still two weeks away from seeing any snowfall in Denver.

I think we’ll see a pattern change after Nov. 11. The mountains are in a similar boat with only minor, glancing blows of snow for the next two weeks.

It’s going to be a rough stretch for ski resorts trying to prepare for Thanksgiving.

October is the 18th time since 1882 with zero snowfall in Denver. It has been abnormally dry and warm in the mountains as well, but in spite of that, Arapahoe Basin was the first ski resort to open.

Loveland Ski Area is still in a holding pattern. The saving grace is that dry, cold nights are ideal for snowmaking.
