ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos will determine their starting quarterback for Thursday’s game against the San Diego Chargers at game time, interim coach Joe DeCamillis said Tuesday.

DeCamillis said starter Trevor Siemian is listed as “limited” for the game.

Siemian is “day to day” after suffering a shoulder injury in the 27-7 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Oct. 2. He did not play in Sunday’s 23-16 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, with rookie first-round draft pick Paxton Lynch starting.

Siemian was sacked and body-slammed to the turf by Buccaneers defensive tackle Clinton McDonald, landing hard on his left, nonthrowing shoulder.

DeCamillis, the special teams coordinator, will coach the team this week while coach Gary Kubiak rests after being hospitalized Sunday night.

Kubiak was taken to a hospital with “flu-like symptoms” after the game. He was later diagnosed with a complex migraine condition that caused extreme fatigue and body weakness.

“You’ve just got to pick up the boot straps and go,” DeCamillis said Monday. He praised the staff and wished Kubiak the best.

On Tuesday, DeCamillis said he hasn’t spoken with Kubiak this week. He said he had “butterflies” when he was driving in to work Tuesday.

On Monday, DeCamillis said he didn’t expect to see “a big change this week” because “Kubes set a template for us.”

However, Siemian said it was definitely different without Kubiak at practice.

Kubiak is expected to be back for the Oct. 24 game against his former team, the Houston Texans.
