DENVER — With six weeks before Election Day, there will be events in Denver as part of National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday.
Last week, Facebook put out a notice to get people to register to vote. The result was nearly 14,000 people registered to vote in Colorado since Friday, the Secretary of State’s Office said.
“Facebook’s efforts add to what we are doing already in Colorado to encourage voter registration,” Secretary of State Wayne Williams said.
On Tuesday, Doritos kicked off a campaign at the University of Denver. It created special “No Choice” bags that are flavorless and colorless that demonstrate when you don’t register to vote, you don’t get a choice.
Doritos set up vending machines at DU asking people if they are registered to vote. If you say no, the “No Choice” chips are distributed. If you say yes, you get the real Doritos.
On Tuesday, there will be a registration event at Civic Center Park in Denver at 11 a.m. There will also be registration events at the flagship REI store near Confluence Park, Union Station, and high schools and colleges across the metro area.
According to the Pew Center on the States, Colorado has the highest percentage of voter registration in the country at 87 percent.
To register to vote, text “CO” to “2Vote” or go to GoVoteColorado.com.
