PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — Former Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow is now officially an aspiring New York Met.

Tebow is on his way for the three-week instructional league at Tradition Field in Florida.

He signed with the Mets for a $100,000 bonus and will try to carve out a career in baseball despite an 11-year absence from the game.

Instructional league is where players learn to polish their skills, with an emphasis on individual instruction. He’s scheduled to play five games in the next three weeks.

According to ESPN, teams aren’t usually allowed to use a player’s name or image until he makes the 40-man major league roster.  But Tebow signed a bridge agreement last week that allows the Mets to merchandise him before he makes the majors.

Tebow’s jersey is already third among the team’s jersey sales on Fanatics.
