DENVER —  It’s a spacey new high-tech way to burn calories, shed fat and improve your skin tone. It’s called InfraFit and it’s available at a gym in Denver. It’s only one of four machines in the nation.

“This is for everyone, it’s not a hard workout,” said April Sharrock, the manager at Ascent Fitness in Denver.

Its two ideas combined to make one ultimate fat-burning machine; infrared light and a horizontal exercise bike.

“After the first five times, I saw that my tummy was getting tighter,” said Shawn Schmidt. She’s been working out with a trainer at Ascent for the last 15 years. She says she immediately noticed a difference after she tried the InfraFit bike.  “My face was glowing and my skin tone was great.”

Sharrock says that is just one of the many benefits of infrared light therapy. “Infrared light has been around for decades and it’s been studied relentlessly for its regenerative properties,” she said. “It excites the skin cells that create collagen and elastin and it improves the skin tone.”

Danny Keefe says with improved nutrition and steady workouts, it’s been part of his life-changing plan. “I’ve been coming here for about 14 months and I have lost 52 pounds. When I see people that I haven’t seen in a year, they literally don’t recognize me.”

It’s simple. All you need is a towel and plenty of water. You get into the machine, sit down, get comfortable and press start.

Ideally you want to keep your heart about 60% of your max. The machine will walk you through it. The entire session lasts just 40 minutes.

“I just put my headphones on and listen to music and before you know it, it’s over,” Schmidt said.

“When I’m done, I almost feel like I’ve been to the spa,” Keefe added.

One little hitch is that it’s best to ride the InfraFit bike in as little clothing as possible, nude if you’re comfortable. The room is private. The idea is that the light needs to hit as much exposed skin as possible.
