DENVER — Shiny and sparkling muscle cars, hot rods, exotics and classics — all looking like they just rolled off the assembly line — are rolling into the Colorado Convention Center looking for new owners.

For 29 years, it’s the Mecum Auction Car Show.

“About 600 to 700 entries are expected at this auction and we will be doing north of $10 million in sales,” said John Kraman, Mecum Auctions consignment director.

All one needs to be is the highest bidder.

“What’s fun is you can come to this auction and even if you don’t know exactly what you’re looking for… and probably find something to pique your interest,” Kraman said.

If you’re looking for a little history, how about a 1941 Willys Coup rolled out of Detroit at the beginning of World War II?  Or a 1959 Chevrolet Impala born in the same year the music died?  Maybe a 1969 Hurst Oldsmobile that rolled out the same year Apollo 11 landed on the moon?

Whether you buy one of these time machines at auction, or just take one home on your smart phone, it’s one car show you don’t want to drive by.
