ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos will be in white when they take on the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50.

The team announced Monday that it’s choosing to wear white as the designated home team. The conferences flip between home and away each year, and the home team has the choice of which jersey to wear.

“We’ve had Super Bowl success in our white uniforms, and we’re looking forward to wearing them again in Super Bowl 50,” Executive Vice President of Football Operations and General Manager John Elway said.

The Broncos will be playing in their eighth Super Bowl and always wear their colored jerseys as the home team.

But they are 0-4 in Super Bowls when playing in their orange uniforms, losing Super Bowls XII (27-10 to the Dallas Cowboys), XXII (42-10 to the Washington Redskins), XXIV (55-10 to the San Francisco 49ers) and XLVIII (43-8 to the Seattle Seahawks) in them.

They lost in their white uniforms in Super Bowl XXI (39-10 to the New York Giants), but won their most recent title, in Super Bowl XXXIII, in them (34-19 over the Atlanta Falcons).

The Broncos won their first title in Super Bowl XXXII, 31-24 over the Green Bay Packers, wearing their blue uniforms. But because the blue jerseys are now considered the alternate uniforms, they cannot be worn in the playoffs.
