HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. — Ed McCaffrey helped the Broncos win the Super Bowl. His sons have helped Valor Christian High School win six of seven state championships the school has played in.

What all of those Valor teams have in common, is they were led by Ed and Lisa McCaffrey’s children.

Max plays for Duke; Christian plays for Stanford and is a Heisman Trophy finalist; Dylan is the quarterback who helped Valor win the 5A title on Saturday; and Luke is a freshman who plays safety and special teams at Valor.

Four football players from the McCaffrey clan who have all had success on the gridiron in Colorado and in the college ranks.

“We played football all day almost every day, just trying to become the best we can be,” Luke McCaffrey said. “I am the lucky one because all of the success and the skills my dad and my brothers have is kind of trickling down to me, so I can be the best I can going forward.”

Valor coach Rod Sherman has had all four of the boys.

“The kids Lisa and Ed have raised are a blessing to Valor and the kids they come in contact with. They are great teammates and they make everyone better in both practice and in games,” he said.

The former Valor coach, who is now coaching with the Raiders, is coming in town this weekend for a game against the Broncos.

But Sherman has an invitation to the Heisman ceremonies but will forego a chance to hang out with the Raiders for the once-in-a-lifetime trip to New York.
