DENVER — Federal agents are on the hunt for three suspects involved in a brazen pawn shop robbery Sunday afternoon. The trio got away with several military style assault rifles. A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
The violent robbery took place at the Fast Cash Pawn and Gold Center on Sheridan Blvd in Edgewater. Surveillance cameras rolled as three suspects wearing masks walked right in with guns in hand.
“There were approximately 10 people in the store, employees and customers. They pointed firearms at them. Put them down on the ground,” explained Special Agent David Booth with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Booth is part of the team investigating the case.
“This was pretty brazen,” Booth said of the case.
According to Booth, it took just five minutes for the armed thieves to get away with cash, jewelry and most alarming: four assault rifles.
“These firearms are going to be used to shoot people, that’s what we’re concerned about,” added Booth.
The suspects took off with three AR style rifles, which according to Booth are commonly used in the military and among police. The suspects also stole an AK-47 Booth says is commonly used in combat.
Investigators believe the suspects may be connected to another armed robbery that took place within the last three months. The ATF is afraid the trio may strike again.
“They are very obviously violent, willing to commit violence upon people. And the fact that they are going in there specifically to steal firearms, it’s very important to us that we identify who they are and take them off the streets before this happens again,” added Booth.
None of the customers or store employees were hurt.
The $10,000 reward being offered will go to anyone who can provide investigators with information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the suspects involved in the case.
