GOLDEN, Colo. –  A man suspected of stealing a credit card and purchasing items at 14 stores is being sought, the Golden Police Department said Tuesday.

A suspect was seen with a woman in surveillance videos and pictures entering and exiting stores throughout the metro area.

Among the reported stores hit were four Walmarts, two Targets, 7-11, King Soopers, several gas stations and ABC Car Wash in Golden.

Police said the man purchased items at 14 stores from Sept. 17-19 using a credit card stolen from a mailbox.

The suspects were driving what appears to be a white four-door Dodge Avenger. He’s described as a white male with short brown hair and a goatee or beard.  He is thin and appears to be under 6-foot, police said. The woman is not considered a suspect.

Police put the photo of the suspect on Facebook and within 40 minutes, the public was able to identify the man.

“We would like to thank the public for their quick response to this case.  It is a good example of how social media can be a powerful tool in solving crimes,” police said in a news release.

The suspect remains at-large but police are not releasing his identity.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the man are asked to call Det. Eric Jones at 303-215-8863.
