CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. — A Marine was killed and 18 others were injured Thursday in a vehicle rollover accident at Camp Pendleton.

Officials are investigating the accident, said Lt. Colleen McFadden, a spokeswoman for the 1st Marine Division. They haven’t released details about the conditions of the injured.

“The command’s priorities are to take care of the Marines, sailors and families of the unit,” McFadden said. “We want to ensure the Marines and their family members are being provided for during this difficult time.”

The identity of the Marine who was killed will be released 24 hours after the next of kin are notified, she said.

Camp Pendleton encompasses more than 125,000 acres in Southern California, about 40 miles north of San Diego.
