BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. — Stolen right off the front porch, dozens of people in Boulder County say someone’s stealing milk by the half-gallons.
It makes for an easy target, if you get home delivered milk, you have a cooler that sits right on your front porch. On delivery day the bottles are left right inside and apparently someone in the area has been very thirsty
Sure, you don’t cry over stolen milk, but plenty are complaining.
“Why would you want to steal milk?” asked Craig Lund of Louisville.
“You don’t think about it when you have a chinchy old milk cooler outside,” said Travis Ramos.
The milk coolers, left out for home deliveries of Longmont Dairy products has been a target for thieves in Erie, Superior and Louisville this week.
“We were out of town. We came back and realized all of a sudden, there’s no milk in the milk cooler,” said Lund.
The front porch thefts happened over a period of several days with some telling FOX31 Denver their milk was stolen on Monday, others said theirs was taken on Friday.
“I have to believe they are selling it, wouldn’t you think?” Lund asked.
“Is there a black milk market?” Ramos laughed.
The Ramos family was one of the lucky ones.
“Woke up Friday morning, our milk was here which was great,” he said.
But plenty of their neighbors have been hit.
“I just imagine there’s somebody that’s following the milk truck two blocks behind that’s just picking up the milk right behind them,” Ramos said.
And at the end of the day, while it is just milk, victims say it’s still a little unnerving.
“You always feel a little violated when that happens, right? I’m sure we’ll all be a little more attentive,” Lund added.
