GOLDEN, Colo. — An inmate awaiting trial for first-degree murder died after he was found lying on the floor of his cell at the Jefferson County Detention Facility on Monday, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies found Timothy Baca about 7:35 a.m. during a walk-through check of the module. Baca was housed alone in the cell. First aid was administered and Baca was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead Tuesday afternoon.

“All indications are that Baca died of an apparent suicide,” according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of the death.

Baca was awaiting trial for first degree murder of his father in Lakewood. He had been at the jail since March 29, 2014.
