DENVER — If it has anything to do with American Idol, it attracts major attention.  And that was certainly the case in Denver Friday.

Hundreds of would-be Idols waiting in line for the chance to chirp for Idol fame.  The cattle call was appropriately held at the National Western Complex in Denver.  The beginning, if you will, of the last roundup.

Friday was the first hurdle in auditions for Idol wannabes, and for many it was the last. “Well, I didn’t make it, I thought I did good.”  Said one hopeful. “It was very nerve wracking, I was very scared.  But I think I did better than I did in Sante Fe.” said another.

Not everyone can be an American Idol, like Season 5 winner Taylor Hicks who was on hand Friday in Denver to help with judging, “If you win American Idol it changes your life forever, you have to really be blessed.”

Lakewood resident and Idol contestant Gabriel Gonzales will sing for reasons other than fame. “I really didn’t come here for expectations of me going to the next round, this is more of overcoming a social anxiety that I’ve always had to battle with.”

No matter what is motivating these contestants, one thing is for sure, it will be their last chance at the American Idol brass ring. The upcoming season, Season 15, will be the last for the popular Fox show.
