PARK COUNTY, Colo. — Denver Water began releasing water into 11-Mile Reservoir Tuesday … an action that is affecting about 12 U.S. Forest Service campgrounds and picnic areas in the 11-Mile Canyon.
The Forest Service said water was flowing over Forest Service Road 96 late Tuesday. It’s forcing officials to close campsites and order evacuations.
11-Mile Canyon and Happy Meadows campground are closed until further notice. Reopening will depend on water levels and condition of the road after the flooding.
The water release is also causing higher water levels along the South Platte River.
