ARVADA, Colo. — Arvada police are looking for a driver after allegedly hitting a pedestrian walking across a street then fleeing the scene.
The incident happened at West 82nd Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard just before 9 p.m. Sunday and police hope the driver’s side mirror that fell off at the scene will lead them to the suspect.
The victim was identified Monday as 61-year-old Lee Chandler. He was reported dead at the scene.
Arvada police said Chandler was crossing the street when he was hit by a Honda Accord. Investigators are still trying to determine exactly where the man was crossing because he was thrown a far distance. There is no light or crosswalk at the intersection.
“The vehicle did not slow down after striking the victim,” Arvada police said in a statement.
Police say they are looking for a dark green Honda Accord that has front-end damage and is missing the driver’s side mirror. The vehicle was last seen going southbound on Sheridan before turning west onto West 80th Avenue.
