DENVER — The discovery of a shooting victim shut down a busy Denver intersection Tuesday afternoon.

It happened at South Federal Boulevard and West Alameda Avenue. One person was taken to Denver Health Medical Center from the scene according to reports.

A Denver Police spokesperson said undercover drug enforcement officers were in the area when they saw a suspicious vehicle, a black truck. Officers began following the truck and before they pulled it over, the driver got out and told officers his passenger had shot himself in the leg. It wasn’t clear if it was accidental or on purpose.

Northbound Federal was closed at Alameda for a brief time during the investigation. It reopened for the evening commute.
