AURORA, Colo. — The family of 1-year-old dog named Roo that was pepper sprayed, beaten and taken from their backyard on April 25 offered a $4,500 reward Wednesday.
The family had surveillance footage of the man who came onto their property and sprayed their three dogs with some kind of chemical.
Hours later, the suspect returned, beat Roo with a golf club then apparently stole the dog, carrying her out in a plastic trash bag, according to a statement from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said.
Denver police have not made arrests in the case, prompting PETA to offer a $2,500 reward combined with the $2,000 reward offered by Metro Denver Crime Stoppers.
“This dog experienced immense fear and pain during an apparently premeditated, violent attack that may have ended in her death,” PETA Senior Director Martin Mersereau said.
