BROOMFIELD, Colo. — In several of the new communities being developed in the northern suburbs, the only thing missing is grass, shrubs and trees. The reason, landscapers are in high demand.

“We know with all the building, people have to really schedule landscaping a long way out,” said Ralph Bronk with Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado. “Many workers who come from other countries have paperwork issues and for us to hire them, the process can take up to a year to get completed.”

Homeowners meanwhile say, “When people come into these neighborhoods, all they see are dollar signs, so the price for landscaping work goes up and up. Our needs are simple but contractors are making it seem like we are asking for the best of the best when it comes to putting in a turf and trees,” said Aaron Cernay.

As always, shop around, get references and account for up-front money given to contractors!
