1. Michelle Wilkins again expresses thanks: ‘My heart is full of gratitude’
Michelle Wilkins, the pregnant Longmont woman who was viciously attacked while answering a Craigslist ad for baby clothes and then had her baby taken out of her womb, expressed her thanks in another note posted to her GoFundMe page.
2. Parks and Wildlife seizes more than 100 prairie dogs in Castle Rock
The Colorado Department of Parks and Wildlife will decide what could happen with more than 100 prairie dogs that were seized from animal rights activists. The animals have been stored in a garage after being taken from a Castle Rock field that will be the site of a new mega-mall.
3. Residents attend meeting to oppose turning golf course into a housing development
Residents who live around Applewood Golf Course in unincorporated Jefferson County are hoping to convince Carlson Associates to back down from building more than 400 homes.
4. Officer John Adsit to throw out first pitch at Rockies’ home opener
The Rockies play their first game at Coors Field this season on Friday afternoon and Denver police officer John Adsit, who was struck by a vehicle while escoring East High School students in December, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
5. Protest planned over proposed RTD fare hikes
A protest is expected in downtown Denver before a public hearing over proposed RTD rate hikes. RTD has put together a fare study that would raise prices for light rail and buses about 15 percent across the board.
6. Snoop Dogg headlining 4-20 concert at Fiddler’s Green for the annual 4-20 celebration
This year’s massive 4-20 celebration in Denver is heading south, with Snoop Dogg playing a concert on April 20 at Fiddler’s Green Amphitheater in Greenwood Village.
7. South Carolina officer charged with murder after video shows him shooting man in back
A South Carolina officer has been charged with murder after a video surfaced that appears to show him shooting an unarmed man who was running away.
8. Blue Bell expands ice cream recall over listeria concerns
Blue Bell Creameries has expanded an ongoing recall of ice cream after a serving produced at a facility in Oklahoma tested positive for listeria contamination.
9. Energy Department: Gas prices will keep falling this spring, summer
Oil prices continue to drop, still below $60 a barrel. And that could mean avoiding the usual summer spike in gasoline prices. The Energy Department predicted motorists would pay the lowest gas prices during the summer months since 2009.
10. Woman with cancer told she can’t fly back home
A California woman posted a video to Facebook saying she couldn’t fly home from Hawaii because, she said, she has cancer. Alaska Airlines apologized for the incident.
