1. Police praise pregnant woman hurt in Craigslist attack

Michelle Wilkins was seven months’ pregnant when she responded to a Craigslist ad about baby clothes for sale only to be attacked and have the fetus cut out of her. First responders are praising Wilkins, with one saying, “She is probably one of the strongest people I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet.”

2. Driver taken into custody after fleeing scene of rollover crash

The driver of an SUV is custody after he lost control of the vehicle and it overturned, just missing an apartment complex. The driver tried to run from the scene, but he was later caught and taken into custody.

3. Search is on after dog digs up Purple Heart medal in backyard

A Purple Heart was dug up in a Denver backyard that research shows its owner has died. Now a national organization is trying to find living relatives so his honor can be preserved through generations.

4. Battle looms at State Capitol over raising minimum wage

State lawmakers will hear two bills that would raise the minimum wage. One would let local governments raise wages on their own. The other would let voters decide by putting a measure on the ballot that would increase the wage by $1 a year.

5. Coal train derails near Interstate 76 on Eastern Plains

A train carrying coal derailed near Hudson on the Eastern Plains. Law enforcement figured about 15,000 tons of coal spilled out during the accident.

6. Colorado marijuana industry proves its benefits for local schools

The marijuana excise tax brought in more than $2 million for school construction projects in January, and when the state starts awarding grants for projects this summer the tax will contribute about $16 million.

7. Thieves steal trailer and supplies from Littleton Boy Scouts

Littleton Boy Scout Troop 444 had its trailer stolen filled with $25,000 worth of crucial camping supplies. The trailer was stored in the parking lot at First Presbyterian Church in Littleton.

8. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz announces 2016 presidential bid

First-term Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz announced he is running for president in a 30-second video message on Twitter.

9. Pizza maker hand-delivers papal pie to Pope Francis

Pope Francis has said all he wants is to go one day to a pizzeria “without being recognized.” So pizzeria owner Enzo Cacialli personally handed the pope a pie as his motorcade drove through Naples.

10. Woman finishes 10K with helping hand from Kentucky police officer

A series of photographs have gone viral after the inspiring end of a 10K race in Louisville, Ky. They show a woman determined not to give up, crossing the finish line hand-in-hand with her son and an officer from the Louisville Metro Police Department.
