DENVER — Mayor Michael Hancock spoke about vandalism at the Fallen Officer memorial that took place during the weekend.

Two men were arrested Saturday shortly after they allegedly poured red paint on the stone memorial.

Firefighters quickly responded to spray clean the mess. Witnesses say police officers stood by and allowed the memorial to be defaced. It was something Mayor Hancock addressed Monday. “I support Chief White and I support his command staff’s decision to stand down and not put police officers in harm’s way.”

A letter from the Colorado Fraternal Order of Police Monday night demanded the resignation of Police Chief Robert White and Manager of Safety Stephanie O’Malley.

In the mean time, loved ones of fallen officers are reacting to what happened.

Julie Hayden tells us about that part of the story in her video report above.
