NAGOYA, Japan — Police arrested a 19-year-old Nagoya University student on Tuesday in Japan, in suspicion that she murdered an elderly woman.

The woman’s husband called police after, Tomoko Mori, age 77, went missing in December, according to The Japan Times.

Japanese Police started an investigation and the murder weapon was found in the university student’s apartment.

The student said she admitted to killing Mori by hitting her head with an ax and then strangling her with a scarf, The Japan Times reported.

Japanese police said she, “just wanted to kill someone since childhood,” and that it could have been “anybody.”

Mori and the girl knew each other previously, when she tried to get the student to join a religious group, The Japan Times said.

Japanese Police said the student may have been annoyed by Mori asking her about the group.

The suspect of the murder is considered a minor under Japanese law and her name is not being released.
