EVANSVILLE, Ind. — An Evansville, Indiana, couple is facing charges after police found a video showing the 1-year-old girl putting a handgun in her mouth, the Associated Press reports.
Evansville Police Department Task Force detectives said they identified the parents as Michael L. Barnes, 19, and Toni Wilson, 22, who were both present while the video was made.
In the video you can hear parents, encouraging their daughter to say “bang bang” and “shoot that thing.”
The parents even let their daughter put the gun in her mouth.
The mother told officers the girl was holding a pellet gun; investigators say it was a .40-caliber handgun, according to the Associated Press.They say the gun’s magazine appeared to be removed but it’s not clear if ammunition was in the chamber.
Both parents charges include child neglect and recklessness with a deadly weapon, according to Evansville Police.
