California apple packing plant has been linked to a deadly listeria outbreak.

Six people may have been killed by the bacteria. More than 30 people across 11 states have also reported being sick.

The listeria was first found in prepackaged caramel apples. But the FDA is concerned other products may be tainted.

Now, all Granny Smith and Gala Apples from the Bidart Brothers plant sent in the last year have been recalled.

If you are worried, look for apples sold by Bidart Brothers.

Other brand names are Granny’s Best.   Some apples may not have brand names at all.

So ask the store if Bidart Brothers supplied the apples. If you think you may have apples from this plant in your fridge, throw away your food.

Listeria can contaminate other food and cause you to be sick.

Sanitize the walls and shelves of your refrigerator.  And make sure you sanitize cutting boards and counter tops.

The FDA is still investigating the outbreak. But we know the fruit was sold to Albertsons, Stater Brothers and Sprouts stores.
