BOULDER, Colo. — Protests against the recent police killings of unarmed black men in New York and Ferguson, Mo., continued in Colorado Saturday.

About 500 people staged marches and a “die-in” in the streets of Boulder, according to the Daily Camera. The crowd walked the Pearl Street Mall and along Canyon Boulevard before arriving at the Boulder County Courthouse.

While the protests remained peaceful,  there were reports of people obstructing traffic in the area, police said.

In Denver, protesters gathered during Friday night’s Parade of Lights Christmas event, showing their displeasure on the Capitol steps and along Colfax Avenue.

Some 100 protesters gathered during Saturday’s event as well. A handful of demonstrators allegedly tried to block the parade for a short time, and at least one person was arrested, according to Denver police.

Throughout the past week, hundreds of high school students walked out of class in protest of the decisions not to press charges against the officers who shot Michael Brown (in Ferguson) and Eric Garner (in New York) earlier this year.

In both cases, police claimed self defense. Some witnesses and protesters disputed those claims, and a video in the Garner case seemed to call into question some of the officers’ accounts of the death.
