Terrian Williams admits the whole thing was “kind of scary.” But the 6-year-old also says he thinks what he did was “cool.” His friends and family know his actions were more than just cool. They were brave, heroic, and probably life saving.

Terrian’s mother, Denise Kimble-Hicks had a stroke, followed by other complications, one night at home. She had taught her six year old son what to do in case of fire, tornado, and medical emergencies.

Terrian stayed calm as his mother was on the floor throwing up blood. She says,”All I remember is I felt like I got kicked in my jaw and just the whole left side of my body went completely numb.”

Terrian dialed 911 and helped dispatchers get all the information they needed. He then took his younger sister to a designated neighbor’s house and asked to call his grandma. The neighbor, Julie Martinez says she was surprised by the little knock on the door. She says, “I was like I wonder who that is, it’s kind of late. And Terrian was really calm, I was really amazed.”

After two weeks in the hospital, Denise is now home again with her kids.

She says, “He saved my life! I don’t know that I would have made it if my son hadn’t called 911. I am proud of him. I am so proud of him. Who can say at 6 years old they saved their mom you know?”

She encourages all parents to put a safety plan in place and teach it to the kids because as she says, “One day you’re OK, and the next day everything is changed.”
