GOLDEN, Colo. — Fire crews discovered a deceased person inside a home that caught fire Saturday morning.

According to the Golden Fire Department, a witness called into the station shortly before 10:30 a.m. to report a structure fire in the 700 block of Iowa Street in Golden.

Crews were immediately dispatched to the scene.

While putting out the blaze, firefighters found a body inside the home.

A spokesperson for Golden Fire told FOX31 Denver they are investigating the cause of the fatal fire, and the Golden Police Department and Colorado Bureau of Investigation are working together to determine the cause of death of the deceased.

As of Saturday afternoon, officials could not say whether or not the victim’s death was a result of the fire, and did not release any information regarding the individual’s identity.
