JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — Police continue to search for two suspects allegedly involved in a deadly shooting and a shelter-in-place was issued for several hours in the area but lifted around 5:15 p.m.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team is on scene assisting deputies in the search for the two homicide suspects.
Officers responded to 3636 S. Depew St. a report of a gunshot wound. They located a man who had been shot in the driver’s seat of a pickup truck parked in a parking lot. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.
Jeffco Sheriff’s Office said two suspects were caught on camera entering a gold Chevy truck at the apartment complex a short time later and the truck was driven by a third person.
Deputies located the truck and took “the driver and sole occupant into custody” in the 2400 block of West 29th Avenue on Wednesday afternoon, Jeffco Sheriff’s Office said. The involvement with the homicide is unknown at this time.
FOX31’s Vicente Arenas is at Tall Pines where the homicide allegedly happened.

“We heard a gunshot. My friend thought it was a firecracker. Just one and all of sudden like five minutes later these two guys are getting out and they’re running with a bunch of stuff in their hands,” Jennifer Jenkins said.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived quickly after 911 calls.
“We were taking a burglary report right there in the neighborhood when this was aired so we’re on scene in seconds,” Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Jacki Kelley said.
Several people told us problems have been brewing in the area for a while.
“I’ve kind of heard there’s some crazy (expletive) happening around here, so I’m not too surprised,” Paul Navarro said.
