AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) — The Aurora Police Department is investigating a deadly hit-and-run crash that happened on Wednesday evening.

Police said they were called to the intersection of North Chambers Road and East 12th Avenue around 8:13 p.m. after reports that a woman was hit by a vehicle.

When police arrived, they found a woman in the road suffering from life-threatening injuries. The woman was taken to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

The woman’s identity will be released from the coroner’s office following notification of next of kin.

During the investigation, police learned the woman was walking westbound in the crosswalk at the intersection when an older model white truck, possibly a GMC, made a left turn from East 12th Avenue onto northbound North Chambers Road and hit her.

Police said the truck continued north and did not stop or help the woman.

The crash is under investigation. If you witnessed the crash or have dash-camera footage and have not talked to police, please contact the Aurora Police Department.

APD said this is the 34th traffic-related fatality of 2022.
