BOULDER, Colo. (KDVR) — Three people were arrested after Boulder police went to capture a fugitive near a high school, prompting police to take safety precautions.
The Boulder Valley School District tweeted out that New Vista High School located at 700 20th St. was being evacuated due to police activity. The high school sits west of the Wolf Law Building at the University of Colorado Boulder campus.
Around 2 p.m. on Thursday, Boulder police were assisting in executing a warrant in the area of 20th and Baseline.
During the operation, police decided it was best to take safety measures around the area since the person they were searching for was a fugitive and other fugitives were in the apartment, all of who were known to be armed and possibly had weapons.
Students were being relocated to the BVSD Education Center at 6500 East Arapahoe Road. BVSD said the reunification process began at 3:30 p.m.
At 4:25 p.m., New Vista High School has been cleared and students and staff are able to return to campus to pick up their belongings.
Police arrested Taylor Kraft, 29, who had active warrants for second-degree kidnapping, robbery, third-degree assault and a Department of Corrections warrant. Chelsea Wisdom, 33, was also taken into custody on warrants for second-degree assault on a peace officer, eluding police and multiple failures to appear for court on charges of trespassing, drugs, larceny and eluding out of Adams County. A man was also arrested but was later released.
