NORTHGLENN, Colo. (KDVR) — The North Metro Fire Rescue District says that a body was found in the Northglenn Water Treatment Facility on Wednesday morning.

The Northglenn Police Department said employees found the body in the facility’s water reservoir around 7 a.m.

The body of a man was recovered from the reservoir around 7:30 a.m.

The victim’s identity will be released by the coroner’s office following notification of next of kin.

Police said they are investigating to determine how the man accessed the reservoir because the facility is fenced and gated. They are also looking into how long the man’s body was in the reservoir.

The water quality in Northglenn is not affected and is safe to drink, police said.

“The individual was found in the terminal reservoir, which is a raw, untreated water source that undergoes standard treatment and disinfection prior to distribution,” Northglenn PD said.
